MONKEY BOOTS / SHINKI HIKAKU HORSEBUTT / TIMBER

LK-013-HORSE-TIMBER

This masterpiece was created by examining monkey boots from various eras, designed to stay true to traditional details while still fitting the modern aesthetic.
The external vamp, which extends all the way to the toe, securely holds the foot from the toe to the ankle, providing a superior fit, while the rounded toe shape enhances the vintage feel.
Although it uses an E-width last, its clean, streamlined silhouette—characteristic of monkey boots—is also a major appeal.

■The horse butt leather used in these boots comes from “Shinki Leather,” experts in horsehide tanning.
When you first put on these boots, the leather may feel a bit stiff at first, but rest assured—it will quickly mold to your feet, delivering exceptional comfort.
The true value of this leather lies in its captivating visual appeal; its consistent, alluring grain pattern captivates the eye.
At Shinki Leather, we keep surface treatments to a minimum to preserve the leather’s natural texture. This approach allows authentic scars—such as those from insect bites or contact with sharp tree branches—that the horse acquired during its lifetime to remain subtly visible. These imperfections are not flaws; rather, they are vital elements that enrich the story of this exceptionally beautiful leather.
■ Triple stitching is applied to areas prone to stress, and the stitching—a hallmark of Japanese craftsmanship—offers a beautiful finish.
■ The soles are manufactured by the world-renowned company Vibram and offer excellent grip and durability. Furthermore, this product features a cork-infused sole, enhancing its vintage appeal.
It uses the American-made 700 cork sole and 7335 cork heel.
■Boasting exceptional durability thanks to the complex stitching of the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods of leather shoe making.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of sturdiness that is unmatched by other methods.
The complex stitching and structure provide just the right weight, creating a pendulum-like motion that supports your stride.
A key appeal is that repairs such as sole and heel replacements are possible, allowing you to wear these shoes semi-permanently.
■Delivered in a dedicated box.
