This model is based on a vintage U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) work jacket. Made from highly durable herringbone fabric, it combines the ruggedness and practicality characteristic of military gear.
■ The main fabric is a brand-original SZ herringbone fabric.
This fabric was created based on an irregular sample that Nigel Cabourn discovered among numerous vintage samples.
Herringbone fabric is a popular choice for military wear, but most varieties use a weave known as single herringbone. In this weave, one direction of the twill stands out while the other appears recessed; however, the SZ herringbone used in this product is different.
SZ herringbone fabric features a unique construction where the twill pattern is clearly visible across the entire fabric.The key to achieving this weave was the use of two types of yarns—one with an S-twist (clockwise) and the other with a Z-twist (counterclockwise)—which are alternately arranged as warp threads according to the direction of the twill. This approach resulted in a fabric with an even stronger structure than standard single herringbone, which is already known for its excellent tear resistance.
This product has also undergone a bio-wash treatment to achieve a worn-in, vintage-inspired texture.
■ The pocket fabric is made from yarn-dyed single herringbone fabric.
This is a standard herringbone fabric, distinct from SZ herringbone, and the contrast in texture serves as a design accent.
■ This is a simple, unlined single-layer jacket, and one of its appeals is that it can be worn for many seasons.
■ This product has undergone a wash treatment.
