Designed with the Eastern U.S. market in mind as fashion wear rather than workwear, this model recreates a zipper-fly style released in the mid-1950s.
Based on rare vintage denim from the 1950s—deadstock preserved by Sugar Cane—this model faithfully reproduces everything from the textured fabric woven with uneven yarn to the distinctive details of each component.
■The fabric is based on vintage denim, but the yarn and dyeing process were developed from scratch specifically for this model.
Although shrink-resistant denim models appeared in the mid-1960s, this model still uses the same unshrunk raw denim as button-fly models, bringing this fabric back to life in the modern era.
■The silhouette is a regular straight cut, featuring a slightly shallower rise and a slim, clean straight leg.
■Characteristic features of this era include short, heavy-gauge side seams and a back center belt loop offset to the left to avoid thick sections of fabric, improving production efficiency and conserving thread. Following vintage design, the belt loops are made from a lighter-ounce denim fabric than the main body.
■The zipper is a brass pin-lock type from Gripper Zippers. Since it features a cotton tape, you can enjoy how it ages over time. As this is one of the very earliest models of the zip-fly, the patch is made of leather. The font of the stamp has also been faithfully reproduced.
