This blouson is based on the body of the MK-3 flight jacket used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the 1980s, incorporating the sleeves and design details of a cold-weather parka.
■The fabric is a brand-original hemp canvas.
Since hemp yarn has even less stretch than linen, it is difficult to weave into a plain weave. In addition to the issue of stretch, knots tend to form in the yarn during the twisting process, which can cause the yarn to break during weaving. If a warp thread breaks, weaving naturally stops at that point, making it completely unsuitable for efficient production.This fabric is a rarity in and of itself.
True to its name, it is a sturdy fabric, yet it is not particularly heavy or thick for a canvas, allowing you to enjoy wearing it for many seasons. Another appealing feature is that it can be washed at home.
■While retaining the functional details of the jacket that served as the basis for this product—such as the distinctive large collar, the chin strap to prevent wind from entering, the asymmetrical front construction, the large pockets, and the loose sleeves—it has been crafted with a single-layer construction for a lightweight, comfortable feel.
■Since it is unlined, it is easy to layer and can be worn for a long season, which is another appealing feature.
■It features a relaxed fit with a generous body width and armholes.
