■While retaining the classic look of a standard tote bag, we’ve added four large exterior pockets to create a highly practical bag that’s easy to use in everyday life.
The handle attachment points, which bear the most stress, are reinforced with rivets to ensure long-lasting use.
■The bag is made from Kurashiki canvas—a material that can only be woven at a rate of two rolls per day on a shuttle loom—and features brass hardware crafted at a foundry in Tokyo’s Shitamachi district.
Using these materials, every step—from sewing and painting to washing and assembly—is done entirely by hand, with Japanese artisans involved in the process from raw materials to the final finish. As you use it, the canvas will soften and develop a rich, vintage-like character.
