This brand is committed to ensuring that everything—from the fabrics and stitching to even the smallest components—is crafted by fairly employed artisans in Japan.
As a tribute to the military, the Japanese national flag, the “Hinomaru,” is reimagined as “PAPA MARU” and sewn onto most products in the collection as a trademark.
■This 8-panel cap is crafted from high-quality wool. Meticulously manufactured in Japan, it’s the perfect addition to your fall and winter outfits.
■This beautiful, lined wool winter cap—unofficially supplied to the French Resistance through the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) and Papa Nui Cap Co.—features a dark olive color that blends naturally into the French countryside.
Essentially used in secret, these caps served to allow those in the know to recognize one another as members of the underground network, and to enable downed Allied pilots to instantly identify their allies.
Initially supplied by Jack Hemingway to a trusted group of French Resistance fighters, they later became known as a symbol for all freedom fighters and as a mark against the Axis enemies.
