This is a collaborative model between Nigel Cabourn and the Italian hat brand Super Duper.
Super Duper was founded in Florence, Italy, in 2011.Florence was once world-renowned as a center for the production of boater hats and other headwear made from natural materials such as straw, but the industry gradually declined with the rise of American hat brands like Stetson. Matteo, the designer at Super Duper, learned of this decline in the hat-making tradition, taught himself the traditional manufacturing methods, mastered the craft, and has continued to this day.It is one of the world’s top hat brands, crafting hats worn even by heads of state.
■The material used is rabbit fur felt. As the name suggests, this felt is made from rabbit fur; while the felting process is labor-intensive and time-consuming, it is widely used as a material for high-end hats. Rabbit fur is hollow, making it both lightweight and warm. It also has excellent color retention and a refined luster.
■This item is a special commission by Nigel Cabourn, based on the “OPEN” model available from SUPERDUPER. The fabric used for the ribbon is a moleskin material originally woven for Nigel Cabourn’s main line. The camouflage pattern on the inside is a custom-made component created specifically for this product. The sweatband features special engravings of “SUPERDUPER” and “Nigel Cabourn” as a testament to the collaboration.
