This is a custom model based on the SPEED BUG, a sports jacket inspired by varsity jackets from around the 1940s.
This model was crafted with the image of a member jacket from a local car club based in HARPER DRY LAKE. The product name, “HOT IRONS,” derives from the era before the term “hot rod” existed, when hot rod cars were referred to as “HOT IRONS.”
■ The side featuring the patch is made of melton wool. This thick fabric is inspired by vintage melton wool, with a distinct yarn-dyed twill weave, and provides excellent warmth.
■ The opposite side is made entirely of 100% rayon satin. It features the unique luster and smooth texture characteristic of rayon.
■The felt patch on the right side of the front chest features chain stitching representing 150 mph (approx. 240 km/h), combined with a V8 engine motif—depicted as a lightning bolt—finished with side-stitch embroidery. Since this patch is intended to be worn only by team members who have achieved the 150 mph record, it is attached as an aftermarket addition and sewn through to the back.
■ The back features chain embroidery in thick cotton thread reading “HARPER HOT IRONS SO. CAL.”, while the large felt patch in the center showcases a luxurious design featuring a hot rod based on a 1934 Ford Model B, rendered in chain embroidery.
■ This product is reversible, so feel free to switch sides to match your mood or outfit for the day.
■ This item has not been pre-washed.
