This black sweatshirt hoodie features the thick, heavy-duty sweatshirt fabric that is a popular feature of Nigel Cabourn products.
■The fabric is a heavyweight 20.5-ounce sweatshirt fabric knitted on a vintage Azuma knitting machine.
It offers just the right amount of softness while maintaining a dense, sturdy texture, and its durable feel makes it ideal for repeated wear. Additionally, the brushed interior provides excellent warmth.
■ The shoulder area features a “Freedom Sleeve” design with a curved silhouette, providing exceptional ease of movement around the arms—a detail commonly seen in vintage garments from the 1940s and 1950s.
■ All seams are sewn using the “flat seam” method, which creates a seamless finish, ensuring a very comfortable fit.
■For this product, we’ve made significant changes to the fabric and dyeing process compared to our previous 20.5-ounce fabric. The outer fabric is top-dyed (dyed while the cotton is still in its pre-yarn state) using slen dyes and reactive dyes. This results in a black color with a slight bluish tint, and the garment is designed to develop a more attractive texture as it ages through repeated wear and washing. This goes beyond simply making the color black—it’s the true essence of Nigel Cabourn.
