This model features a design based on the early-model A-1 jacket used in the 1930s and 1940s, crafted from brown-core horsehide.
■The material used is brown-core horsehide. Raw hides can harden or rot if left untreated, but through the process of “tanning,” they are transformed into leather.
According to one theory, this most primitive of human crafts began when the Inuit chewed on seal skins to soften them with their saliva.
While the tanning process using petroleum-derived chromium solvents has become common in recent years, this product is 100% naturally derived tannin-tanned. Because it uses tannin exclusively, it is also known as “full-tannin.”
Since it has a brown core, the brown underneath the black will gradually emerge as you wear it. The patina that develops reflects the wearer’s personal style and habits, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece unique to its owner.
