1930s–1940s WOODSMAN COAT
The “U.S. FOREST SERVICE” in this product’s name refers to the U.S. Forest Service, an organization that not only fights wildfires but also supports outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. This model is inspired by the cruiser coats worn by Forest Service personnel.
Generally, cruiser coats—which feature a double-layered construction from the chest up and on the sleeves—are best known for the Double Mackinaw Cruiser made from wool melton fabric; however, this product uses the brand’s original cotton duck fabric.
■The fabric is a 13-ounce cotton duck dyed with sulfur dyes.
Woven from slub yarn, this cotton duck fabric has a pronounced irregular texture, and the wear and tear from washing and use give it a distinctive, worn-in look that creates a truly exceptional atmosphere.
■The standout feature of this product is that the cape-like section—which is integrated with the hood (the double-layered portion from the chest up and the sleeves)—is detachable.
■People who venture deep into the forest to survey the area and search for trees suitable for lumber are called “timber cruisers.” The clothing they wear must not only be durable and waterproof but also feature pockets that can efficiently store items such as maps, compasses, writing utensils, and measuring tools.
For this reason, this product is equipped with numerous pockets. The front features asymmetrically arranged pockets of various shapes, while the back includes game pockets with zippers on both sides, as well as a flap pocket with a gusset in the center of the lower section.
■The back features a design representing the U.S. Forest Service, applied using a highly labor-intensive airbrush printing process.
■Pre-washed product.
