This piece is generously infused with the charm of the aloha shirt, featuring motifs symbolic of tropical Hawaii—such as pineapples, hula girls, palm trees, and hibiscus flowers—scattered throughout the design.
Compared to the earliest vintage designs, the motifs are depicted slightly smaller and arranged densely without spacing between them.This is characteristic of the 1950s, when aloha shirts were at the height of their popularity and manufacturers were preparing to increase production efficiency; one can discern this historical trend within the design itself.
■FILAMENT RAYON (Habutae Rayon) is a plain-woven fabric made using filament rayon (long fibers) for both the warp and weft threads.
Modelled after silk habutae, it is characterized by a beautiful luster, a soft and smooth texture, and excellent drape.
Enjoy the smooth, refreshing feel that makes it perfect for wearing during hot weather.
■The printing method is discharge printing. This technique involves dyeing the fabric in a base color, then using a discharge agent to remove the color from the patterned areas while simultaneously dyeing those areas with a different color.Because it allows for combinations of bright colors that contrast with a dark base color, the result is strikingly vivid hues.
