THE CORONA UTILITY develops its own unique line of utility wear by fully utilizing all the details and functionality found in every type of functional clothing—including workwear, military uniforms, and outdoor sportswear. Using primarily industrial-grade sewing techniques and sturdy, functional fabrics with character, the brand continues to offer its products to everyone who believes that “clothing is an integral part of one’s lifestyle.”
These are baggy-style five-pocket jeans featuring a so-called “wide silhouette”—with a large back pocket positioned slightly lower, a deep rise, and wide thighs and knees.
■The fabric is 14oz indigo selvedge denim, which the brand has used consistently since its founding. It is woven in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, a renowned denim-producing region.
The denim is made with a blend of American cotton, resulting in yarn with a natural, uneven texture.
By loosening the tension of the warp threads during weaving, a textured, uneven surface is created; as the jeans are worn over time, this results in the faded spots characteristic of vintage jeans.
We use vintage power looms to weave the fabric slowly, recreating the atmosphere of the 1950s.
Because the fabric is woven with light tension—without being over-woven—it softens with wear, developing a beautiful vertical fade.
■All hardware, including donut buttons and rivets, features the CORONA logo.
■The front features a zipper with locking teeth. The locking mechanism prevents the slider from sliding down on its own.
