1950s–1960s CIVILIAN MILITARY-STYLE CLOTHING

: The TYPE L-2 was officially adopted in 1945; as the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) transitioned to the U.S. Air Force (USAF), the TYPE L-2A was updated to “Air Force Blue,”the Type L-2B (mid-period and later models), featuring a sage green body with rescue orange lining, and the CWU-36P, which remained in service for a long period until the late 1970s.
This product is designed to represent a civilian item manufactured in the 1950s–1960s by “UNION SPECIAL OVERALLS,” FREEWHEELERS’ workwear line.
Additionally, as a SPECIAL EDITION model, it features a deadstock zipper manufactured by CROWN.
The slider features a reversible pull tab stamped with “CC,” making it a rare zipper primarily used on MA-1 jackets from the 1960s.
While strongly inspired by vintage designs, this is a truly unique piece brimming with the originality that only FREEWHEELERS can offer.

■The outer fabric is made from the brand’s original 66 nylon twill.
66 nylon twill is a fabric woven at high density using two plies of 66 nylon fiber—a material developed by DuPont in the United States in 1935. With its unique luster and firm texture, as well as high abrasion resistance, this fabric has been used in nylon flight jackets, including the MA-1.
Additionally, the fabric used in this product has undergone a calendering process (a treatment that applies heat and pressure with rollers to compress the fabric), resulting in a smoother finish with enhanced luster and superior wind resistance.
■The liner uses the rescue orange-colored wool-rayon fabric that was used in mid-period TYPE L-2B models and later.
■Originally developed as a flight jacket for use in the “Light Zone” (regions with temperatures between 10°C and 30°C), the TYPE L-2 contains no padding and offers a lightweight, comfortable fit.
■The chest box tab (a component for securing communication cables and oxygen mask hoses) is made of hose hide, just like on the TYPE L-2. The cigarette pocket on the left sleeve features a black-coated, commando-style zipper by WALDES. Urea buttons are used on the shoulder epaulets, the waist pocket flaps, and the zipper end flaps.
■Unwashed product.

This product uses deadstock zippers from the 1950s.
Please exercise extreme caution when moving the slider up and down.
Insert the zipper pull firmly, hold the end box securely with your hand to ensure there is no slack in the zipper tape, and slowly move the slider upward.
Forcing the slider up or down may cause it to snag or the tape to tear. Please be very careful.
For dirt such as mud, allow it to dry until it softens, then gently brush it off with a lint-free cloth. Never use soap or solvents.
