Harry Fusao Ohara, a Japanese pilot who served in the Royal Air Force during World War I and became known as a battle-hardened hero of the skies.
This product is designed based on the flight jacket he wore and is crafted from the brand’s original Half-Tex fabric.

■The outer fabric is made from the brand’s original Halftex material.
Inspired by the fabric of a trench coat worn during World War I—one of the pieces in Nigel Cabourn’s vintage collection—this new material achieves the vintage texture and durability of natural cotton canvas that has aged for 100 years, along with remarkable lightness.
Halftex is an ultra-lightweight nylon fabric woven from twisted yarns made of hollow-core nylon staple fibers. It is an original material characterized by a “dry, natural texture,” “extremely high nylon rigidity,” and “remarkable lightness due to its hollow-core design.”
In addition to its lightness and high rigidity, this material also offers water repellency. Furthermore, this season’s Halftex fabric has a softer, more comfortable feel than previous versions.
■During World War I, fighter planes were biplanes with open cockpits. Designed to provide protection from the cold and wind, these jackets featured a long cut and were designed to be securely fastened to the body with a belt. Another key feature of flight jackets from this era was the large map pocket on the chest, which allowed pilots to compare maps with the terrain below as they flew.
