After examining numerous vintage engineer boots, we’ve created these Japanese-made engineer boots packed with meticulous attention to detail—including materials, manufacturing methods, and individual components—that can’t be fully described in just a few words.
These are the crowning achievement of John Loftgren Boot Maker’s lineup and truly embody the brand’s passion and commitment to excellence.
Crafted by Japanese artisans using time-honored techniques, they feature a sturdy, high-quality finish.

The leather used is Chromexcel Leather (an aniline-finished oil-tanned leather, thickness: 2.0–2.3 mm) from HORWEEN, a long-established American leather manufacturer.
Because Chromexcel Leather contains a high oil content, it molds comfortably to your feet right from the start. It is also resistant to cracking even with prolonged wear and is characterized by its thick yet supple texture.
Triple stitching is applied to areas prone to pressure, and the stitching—a hallmark of Japanese craftsmanship—results in a beautiful finish.

The layered Oak Dark Tan leather and the Woodsman’s Heel (with its inward-curving shape) give the shoe an elegant finish.
The shaft is shaped with a rounded contour at the calf for a comfortable fit.

The buckle is a steel roller buckle featuring the brand’s logo. It has an antique brass finish and was designed from scratch to blend seamlessly with the leather.
The sole is made by the world-renowned manufacturer VIBRAM and offers exceptional durability.

Crafted using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for leather shoes—it boasts exceptional durability thanks to its complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of sturdiness that is unmatched by other methods.
Thanks to the complex stitching and structure, the shoes’ well-balanced weight creates a pendulum-like motion while walking, providing excellent support.
A major appeal of these shoes is that they can be repaired—such as by replacing the sole or heel—allowing you to wear them virtually indefinitely.
They will be delivered in a custom box.
