From Nigel Cabourn’s 2025 High Summer Collection, a new model has been released featuring a design based on the M43 system pants—officially adopted and worn by the U.S. Army in 1943—made from pigment-dyed cotton-nylon fabric.
■The fabric is a slightly lightweight cotton-nylon “weather cloth.”
“Weather cloth” is a general term for fabrics with a fine-count, high-density plain weave that resists rain and wind. Because the fine-count threads in weather cloth cross one by one, the fabric tends to have low tear strength.While 100% cotton would indeed have low tear strength, the addition of sturdy nylon ensures sufficient tear strength. Lightweight and highly durable, this fabric is truly perfect for Nigel Cabourn’s High Summer collection.
■While the original uses thick cotton herringbone or back satin fabrics, this product—in keeping with the High Summer Collection’s theme—employs the cotton-nylon fabric characteristic of the M-65, evoking the tropical climate of Vietnam where the M-65 was deployed. Furthermore, pigment dyeing has been used to create a unique, vintage-inspired color variation and a rich, distinctive hue.
■ Featuring a simple design without cargo pockets, this jacket includes adjusters on both sides of the waist and a cinch bag on the back for easy size adjustment. It’s a versatile piece that works well with a wide range of outfits.
■ The front features a button fly and uses original buttons modeled after the 13-star buttons adopted by the U.S. Army.
■Pre-washed.
