Based on the shirt worn by Michael Ward—a doctor who accompanied a British mountaineering expedition in 1953 as they attempted to climb Mount Everest, which had never been conquered before—this is the brand’s signature shirt, which Nigel Cabourn himself claims can be worn for 10 years.
It was re-released in 2022 with a refined design.
While retaining its distinctive design, the waistline has been straightened, and the overall fit has been slightly adjusted, allowing for a more relaxed fit than before.
■The fabric is a dungaree cloth of just the right thickness, offering both body and stiffness. It can be worn year-round, and you can look forward to the way the color fades over time.
■The fabric is double-layered from around the armholes to the shoulders and back, as well as from the cuffs to the elbows, creating a sturdy, reinforced construction.
■It’s packed with the meticulous, intricate details found in vintage work shirts, including an asymmetrical chest pocket design, a back yoke with ventilation holes to improve airflow, multiple ventilation holes under the arms, and cat’s-eye buttons often seen in vintage pieces.

I always wear size 48/L for Nigel Cabourn tops. As usual, size 48/L fits me perfectly for this item as well. Compared to the standard versions of this model released in the past, this one has a slightly roomier fit. However, it’s not enough to warrant changing sizes.
I also wear size L in tops from other brands. Please feel free to use this as a reference.
