About OX’ED SILVER... This label revives, through research and analysis, the suits—originally worn as workwear by specific workers, artisans, and artists—as well as the shirts, T-shirts, and other garments worn with them.
This season’s collection focuses on five professions—blacksmiths, master masons, firefighters, architects, and engineers—and incorporates their elements into the designs.
As the name suggests, this product is based on a jacket originally worn by firefighters.
Please enjoy this special jacket, unique to Nigel Cabourn, made possible by his deep understanding of vintage style.

■The fabric is the brand’s original sashiko fabric, woven from hemp and cotton and inspired by rare vintage textiles that existed from the late 1800s to the early 1930s.
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese craft technique in which thick thread is stitched one stitch at a time across the entire surface of a single piece of fabric to add thickness and create a sturdy fabric, forming a pattern. Sashiko weaving is a technique that reproduces this extremely primitive method using a loom.
The fabric's unparalleled sturdiness and natural thickness are the result of a triple weave using a hemp-cotton blend yarn.
The weave of sashiko fabric is extremely sturdy, and once it absorbs water, it functions as fire-resistant clothing. For this reason, this fabric is known in Japan as a specialized material worn by firefighters.
Please enjoy this one-of-a-kind fabric, made possible only because it’s a brand original.
■This product is based on the design of a vintage jacket worn by U.S. volunteer firefighters.
The buttons feature reproduction brass buttons modeled after those originally designed by a now-defunct, long-established French department store for its local fire department. In a thoughtful touch, the brand name “NIGEL CABOURN” is engraved on the back of each button, just as the name of the department store would have been engraved in those days.

Until the color has faded somewhat, the dye may transfer to white T-shirts or light-colored items through friction. To be safe, we recommend wearing this product with darker-colored items.
Please note that the dye may also transfer to light-colored items when the product gets wet or is washed at home.
