[MAIN LINE] MADE IN JAPAN
This design is based on the turtleneck sweaters used by the British Air Force and Navy.
While the original was made of heavy-gauge wool, we’ve replaced it with a cotton knit top that’s easy to wear while retaining the same vibe.
■The fabric is a heavy-weight waffle weave that we knit in-house.
Characterized by its distinctly textured fabric, this garment retains a layer of air in these areas, providing excellent warmth despite being made of cotton jersey.
Since it's made of 100% cotton, it's recommended even for those who don't like the itchy feel of wool, and it's easier to care for than wool.
■The neckline and cuffs feature the classic vintage-style needle-punched ribbing, providing a comfortable fit that’s neither too tight nor too loose.
■The turtleneck collar is cut slightly higher.
■The left cuff features the Broad Arrow—a signature motif of Nigel Cabourn—embroidered by hand using a sewing machine.
■This product features a significant departure from previous fabrics and dyeing methods; it is top-dyed (dyed while the cotton is still in its raw state, before being spun into yarn) using Sren dyes and reactive dyes. This results in a black color with a subtle bluish tint, and the fabric is designed to develop a richer texture over time as it ages through repeated wear and washing. This is the true essence of Nigel Cabourn—it goes far beyond simply dyeing the fabric black.
