The origins of Chelsea boots date back to around the 1830s.
They are said to have originated as boots made for Queen Victoria, featuring elastic on the sides for a snug fit and easy on-and-off wear, and were originally worn as dress shoes.
These Chelsea boots became widely popular in the 1960s.This was spurred by British musicians, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, who began wearing them.
The name “Chelsea” derives from the Chelsea district of London. While Chelsea is now known alongside Mayfair as an upscale residential area, in the 1960s it was known as a place where artists—including painters and musicians—lived and worked.
Based on this Chelsea boot, we’ve refined the details, updated the design, and upgraded the materials and components to create a masterpiece suited for the modern era.
By using JOHN LOFGREN’s original D-width last, we’ve also focused on achieving a clean, streamlined silhouette.
As a result, this versatile pair works equally well with rugged styles and elegant looks. Another appealing feature is that they’re easier to slip on and off compared to other boots. Please enjoy the beautiful texture of the horse butt leather.

■The horse butt leather used in these boots comes from “Shinki Leather Co., Ltd.,” experts in horsehide tanning.
When you first wear these boots, the leather may feel a bit stiff at first, but rest assured—it will quickly mold to your feet, providing exceptional comfort.
The true value of this leather lies in its captivating visual appeal; its consistently alluring grain pattern captivates the eye.
At Shinki Leather, surface treatments are kept to a minimum to preserve the leather’s natural texture. This approach allows authentic scars—such as marks from insect bites or contact with sharp tree branches—that the horse acquired during its lifetime to remain subtly visible. These imperfections are not flaws; rather, they are vital elements that enrich the story of this exceptionally beautiful leather.
■ The soles and heels are made by the world-renowned manufacturer Vibram, offering superior grip and durability.
■Crafted using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for making leather shoes—these shoes boast exceptional durability thanks to their complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of sturdiness that is unmatched by other methods.
The complex stitching and structure give the shoes just the right weight, creating a pendulum-like motion that supports your stride.
A key appeal is that repairs, such as sole or heel replacements, are possible, allowing you to wear them semi-permanently.
■Delivered in a dedicated box.
