[MAIN LINE] MADE IN JAPAN
This design fuses the body details of the tanker’s jacket used by U.S. Army tank crewmen during World War II with the sleeves and ribbing design of the A-2 flight jacket.
This is a masterpiece that could only have been created by Nigel Cabourn, an expert in vintage military gear.
■The outer fabric of the body is made of cotton twill, just like the vintage originals.
■The sleeves are made of horsehide. Horsehide is a leather known for its light weight and excellent durability, and has long been used in flight jackets and engineer boots. You’ll enjoy watching it develop a subdued sheen as it ages with wear.
■The ribbing features a thoughtful design with different colors depending on the section. While the collar and hem match the body color, the sleeve ribbing recreates the reddish-hued wool ribbing commonly used in A-2 flight jackets.
■The lining is made from a fabric that recreates the wool melton woven from assorted raw wool during World War II. To replicate the complex color tones and texture, we used combed wool and had it woven in-house as a brand original, resulting in excellent thermal insulation.
■Unwashed product.
