DONKEY PUNCHER BOOTS 8" / EZO SHIKA DEERSKIN / BURNT DARK BROWN
Lot No. LK-041
The Donkey Puncher by John Lofgren Boots is a robust, logger-style boot. The Donkey Puncher is famous for being surprisingly comfortable right out of the box.
The upper is beautifully finished by skilled Japanese artisans who have been responsible for the stitching since the brand’s inception. This boot is both visually striking and aesthetically pleasing. The name “Donkey Puncher” derives from the “steam donkey,” a steam locomotive used in the American logging industry around the turn of the century.
■ The Ezo deer is a subspecies of the Japanese deer native to northern Hokkaido, Japan. It is larger than other subspecies of deer and thrives in harsh, cold, and snowy environments.Since ancient times, the Ainu people have relied on Ezo deer for food, and their hides were once used in samurai armor.
To make boots from Ezo deer hide, two layers are required: the upper is made from tanned leather impregnated with wax and then charred, while the lining uses tanned leather impregnated with oil.
Both designs make the most of the unique texture found only in wild Ezo deer leather; we have deliberately avoided dyeing or coating the leather to uniform its texture. The natural grain and wild texture inherent to this leather are sure to be irresistible, especially to leather enthusiasts.
■ Triple-stitching is applied to areas prone to pressure, and the stitching—a hallmark of Japanese craftsmanship—results in a beautiful finish.
■Featuring layered Oak Dark Tanned leather and a “Woodsman’s Heel” (a heel with a concave curve on the inside), these boots offer an elegant finish.
■The soles are made by the world-renowned manufacturer VIBRAM and offer exceptional durability.
■A removable foot guard (which protects the boot and distributes the pressure from the laces) is included.
■Made using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for crafting leather shoes—these boots boast exceptional durability thanks to their complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a sturdiness that far surpasses other methods.
The complex stitching and structure give the boots just the right weight, creating a pendulum-like motion that supports your stride.
One of their key attractions is the ability to have repairs done, such as sole or heel replacements, allowing you to wear them virtually forever.
■The included leather shoelaces may be difficult to hook onto the eyelets when you first start using them.
If you lightly hook the shoelace onto the eyelet and then pull it upward, it will catch properly. Please give it a try.
■The shoes will be delivered in a dedicated box.
