These Japanese-made engineer boots are the result of extensive research into numerous vintage engineer boot designs, incorporating a level of attention to detail—from materials and manufacturing methods to individual components—that cannot be fully described in a single sentence.
They are the crowning achievement of the John Loftgren Boot Company’s lineup and embody the brand’s passion and commitment to excellence.
Crafted by Japanese artisans using time-honored techniques, these boots feature a sturdy, high-quality finish.

■The horse butt leather used in these boots comes from “Shinki Leather,” experts in horsehide tanning.
When you first put these boots on, they may feel a little stiff at first, but rest assured—this leather will quickly mold to your feet, providing exceptional comfort.
The true value of this leather lies in its captivating visual appeal; its consistently alluring grain pattern captivates the eye.
At Shinki Leather, we minimize surface treatment to preserve the leather’s natural texture. This approach allows authentic scars—such as those from insect bites or contact with sharp tree branches—that the horse acquired during its lifetime to remain subtly visible. These imperfections are not flaws; rather, they are vital elements that enrich the story of this exceptionally beautiful leather.
■ Triple stitching is applied to areas prone to pressure, and the stitching—a hallmark of Japanese craftsmanship—features a beautiful finish.
■ Characterized by the layering of Oak Dark Tan leather and the Woodsman’s Heel (a curve that curves inward), it offers an elegant finish.
■The shaft is shaped with a rounded contour around the calf for a comfortable fit.
■The buckle is a nickel-plated roller buckle featuring the brand’s logo.
■The sole is made by the world-renowned manufacturer VIBRAM and offers exceptional durability.
■Crafted using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for leather shoes—it boasts exceptional durability thanks to its complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of durability that is unmatched by other methods.
The complex stitching and structure provide just the right amount of weight, creating a pendulum-like motion that supports your stride.
A key appeal is that repairs—such as sole and heel replacements—are possible, allowing you to wear them virtually indefinitely.
■ They will be delivered in a dedicated box.
