Lot No. LJ-015-LIZARD
This model is a front-opening reinterpretation of the smock worn by U.S. Navy gunners in the late 1940s, featuring a lizard camo pattern that is extremely rare in vintage pieces.
■The smocks worn by U.S. Navy gunners in the late 1940s were repurposed after World War II by hot rod racers as functional racing jackets. The name of this product is derived from the Mojave Desert in California, where hot rod races were once held.
■Lizard Camo was a camouflage pattern once adopted by the French military and is said to be the prototype for the U.S. military’s later Tiger Camo.
Made from cotton fabric with just the right thickness, this smock can be worn as outerwear in spring and fall, or layered under a loose-fitting coat in winter.
■Since the original design was a pullover style, the silhouette features a boxy cut with generous shoulder and body width.
■Drawstrings are included at the hood, cuffs, and hem, allowing you to cinch the garment for a more fitted look. It features two flap pockets positioned high on the front.
■Supervised by “John Lofgren,” a designer for a boot manufacturer well-versed in vintage fashion, its high quality goes without saying. We highly recommend this item to vintage enthusiasts.
■Pre-washed item.
