The origins of the moccasin hunting boot date back to the early 1900s, and since then, they have been a staple among outdoor enthusiasts, farmers, and construction workers. This product is an 8-inch-tall moccasin boot that draws primary inspiration from 1930s designs while incorporating updates throughout to suit the modern era.
The leather used is Ezo deer hide. The Ezo deer is a subspecies of the Japanese deer native to Hokkaido, Japan. It is larger than other deer subspecies and thrives in harsh, cold, and snowy environments. Since ancient times, the Ainu people have hunted the Ezo deer for food, and its hide was once used in samurai armor.
Making boots from Ezo deer hide requires two layers: the upper is made from tanned leather impregnated with wax and then singed, while the lining is made from tanned leather impregnated with oil.
Both layers make the most of the unique texture found only in wild Ezo deer leather; we have deliberately avoided dyeing or coating the leather to uniform its texture. The natural grain and wild texture inherent to this leather are sure to be irresistible, especially to leather enthusiasts.
The soles are made by the world-renowned manufacturer VIBRAM and offer exceptional durability.
Crafted using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for making leather shoes—these boots boast exceptional durability thanks to their complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of sturdiness that is unmatched by other methods.
Thanks to the complex stitching and structure, the shoes’ perfectly balanced weight creates a pendulum-like motion while walking, providing excellent support.
A key appeal is that repairs—such as sole or heel replacements—are possible, allowing you to wear them virtually forever.
