STEELGANG SW BOOTS / BADALASSI CARLO / VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHER / TOBACCO
Lot No. LK-043-TOBACCO
These boots are named after the workers who laid railroad tracks in the logging industry. They feature a sturdy construction designed to provide foot protection while allowing for extended wear.
The leather used is Minerva Riscio from “Badalassi Carlo” in Italy.
Located in the Tuscany region of Italy, Badalassi Carlo is a tannery specializing in vegetable-tanned leather. For over 50 years, it has been tanning leather in the region using a method known as the “Bacchetta” process, establishing itself as one of Italy’s premier tanneries.
The Bacchetta method is a traditional tanning process that involves slowly and thoroughly infusing the leather with vegetable tannins over an extended period, followed by repeated stages of fattening—the addition of oil. However, this method is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and as the number of artisans capable of passing down this craft has dwindled over time, the leather has become increasingly rare.
Minerva Riscio leather is characterized by its smooth, beautiful surface and its substantial thickness and firmness.
“Liscio” means “smooth” in Italian, and true to its name, this leather is characterized by a smooth, silky texture. It contains more oil than standard leather and has no natural grain, allowing it to develop a deep, rich patina over time.
Featuring layered Oak Dark Tan leather and a Woodsman’s heel (with a curved shape that curves inward), it offers an elegant finish.
The sole uses VIBRAM, a world-renowned manufacturer, ensuring exceptional durability.
Crafted using the Goodyear welt construction—one of the traditional methods for leather shoes—it boasts durability thanks to its complex stitching.
This construction method, commonly found in vintage boots and high-end shoes, is characterized by a level of durability that is unmatched by other methods.
Thanks to the complex stitching and structure, the shoes’ well-balanced weight creates a pendulum-like motion while walking, providing excellent support.
A major appeal of these shoes is that they can be repaired—such as by replacing the sole or heel—allowing you to wear them virtually indefinitely.
They will be delivered in a custom box.
