This jacket is inspired by outdoor jackets from the 1970s and 1980s and features the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Free Wheelers.
■The fabric is a high-density woven cotton known as “Master Shield.” By maximizing the thread count to the absolute limit, it achieves a waterproof fabric that repels water despite being 100% cotton.
Based on technology derived from Ventile—a material developed during World War II to help Royal Air Force pilots survive as long as possible in the cold sea after ejecting from their aircraft—this fabric has been further refined in Japan and boasts a water resistance rating of 800 mm or higher.
It features the breathability unique to 100% cotton and, thanks to its ultra-high density, also offers heat resistance—a functional fabric made in Japan.
■ It features a stand-up collar with a hood stored inside. Epaulets are placed on the shoulders, and the right shoulder features a gun patch typically found on shooting jackets.
■The front features both buttons and a zipper and is characterized by its numerous front pockets.
The upper left chest pocket and the lower left and right hip pockets each have a double-layered construction. Two buttons are placed side by side so that the position of the flap can be adjusted depending on the volume of items placed inside the pockets. The middle pocket is designed to hold spent cartridge cases.
■The lining is made of plain-woven cotton fabric. A drawcord is attached to the inside of the waistband, allowing you to cinch the waist for a tighter fit.
■The buttons are two different sizes of nut buttons, each stamped with the Great Lakes logo.
