"EASTMAN LEATHER CLOTHING" is a British brand that meticulously reproduces vintage flight jackets from the 1939–1945 era, with a focus on American military clothing.
With a history spanning over 30 years, this reproduction manufacturer sources the exact same materials used back then. They commission every single component—down to the finest details—from the original parts manufacturers of the era, recreating each piece to the exact same specifications as the originals and bringing them back to life in the modern era. Their products are truly “authentic” reproductions.
Their greatest strength lies in in-house production at their own factory, where they maintain quality, advance their craftsmanship, and ensure consistent manufacturing.
Their aesthetic is rooted in military style, while their other label, “ELMC,” was launched as a collection inspired by the mid-20th-century motorcycle scene, offering everything from biker styles to sportswear.
■ The shearling vest was adopted by the U.S. Air Force during World War II. It was worn under a leather flight jacket when the weather wasn’t cold enough to require a two-piece sheepskin suit, helping to keep pilots warm. It was classified as an “intermediate” flight vest, Type C-3.
Essentially serving as a “body warmer,” it gained immense popularity not only among aviation crew but also, after the war, among those enjoying outdoor leisure activities such as motorcycling. Later, many civilian variations emerged, featuring more elegant trims and additional pockets.
Eastman’s model is inspired by the original vintage design, adorned with pockets and rivets, and crafted to offer enhanced comfort and durability.
To ensure it’s easy to wear whether you’re wearing a jacket over it or not, we’ve used a 6mm-thick, short-pile fleece and intentionally cut the silhouette to fit the body cleanly.
Additionally, just like the original, the length is kept short to accommodate sitting on a motorcycle or while riding.
■The trim and pockets, made from Italian vegetable-tanned horsehide, feature a special finish. To achieve a vintage-like texture and feel, each piece is handcrafted to recreate color variations, leather scratches, and scuffs through a special processing technique, resulting in a vintage-inspired look.
